Early Childhood Center

The Lenox Hill Neighborhood House’s Early Childhood Center provides year-round comprehensive preschool services to children ages 3-6. Our safe, nurturing environment stimulates children's educational, emotional and physical growth. We believe that every child is a unique individual with special interests and abilities, so we design an Individualized Educational Plan for each child.

Our center is accredited by the National Associate for the Education of Young Children. This prestigious recognition, only achieved by approximately 7% of early childhood programs nationwide, certifies that the Neighborhood House's early childhood program meets national standards of excellence in childcare. The accreditation process carefully considers all aspects of a program including health and safety, staff qualifications and physical environment. The greatest emphasis is on the children's relationships with the staff and how the program helps each child grow and learn intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally.

Each day, the children discover an exciting variety of recreational and educational activities. Our rich curriculum includes computers, field trips, art and music activities, outdoor play and swimming. In addition, we work daily to build science, pre-literacy and early math skills. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided daily.

The success of our programs depends on the full cooperation and participation of families in classroom activities, parent policy committee meetings and educational workshops. Parents and guardians may choose from a wide variety of opportunities to become involved in their child’s school throughout the year.

Our early childhood programs receive both federal Head Start and Agency for Child Development funding. Fees are based on income, family size and federal guidelines and may be waived in certain circumstances. Medical clearance and results of the HGB blood test and tuberculosis test are required.
